Six Things On My Retreat You Can’t Do On Your Own
"One's destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things."
Henry Miller
You could try to plan this trip yourself. Book the flights, read the guides, make the reservations. But some things simply aren't for sale. They're earned, through years of relationships I've built one retreat at a time.
Here's what that actually gets you.
1. A Boat With a History (Mallorca)
This isn't a charter you find online. It's carried Taylor Swift. The Obamas have chartered it too. For a day, it's yours, chef included, catching the fish and building sushi right there on deck.
2. Wine Poured By The Winemaker Herself (Mallorca)
At Ava Vi Winery, Claudia isn't a name on a label. She's one of the youngest female winemakers in Europe, and she walks into the middle of your class to pour you what she made, herself.
3. A Paella Class as Son Mo (Mallorca)
Not a demo built for tourists. A real class, in a real kitchen, learning a dish exactly the
way it's been made there for generations.
4. A Private Pop-In With Royalty’s Favorite Boutique (Provence)
I build a private perfume workshop with Rose & Marius, then bring Souleiado, a longtime favorite of Princess Diana's, right into our hotel. That door doesn't open for anyone who calls ahead.
5. Champion-Led Cycling (Tuscany)
Forget the rental bike and a suggested loop. You're riding hidden roads through the hills with a father-son duo who've actually won some of the country's biggest races.
6. A Seat at the Table, Literally (Portugal + The Cotswolds)
Cook beside a celebrated Portuguese chef, or learn the real art of entertaining from a designer who has set tables at Buckingham Palace. Either way, you're in a room you couldn't get into alone.
This is what I mean when I say you can't recreate this trip on your own. It was never about the itinerary. It's the access. If that's the kind of week you're after, the door's open, but I only have so many seats at each table.
